Forest Stewardship
The Forest Stewardship Program was initiated in the early 1990's to promote the wise use of wooded and open land for multiple benefits. While working with a professional forester, a landowner chooses personal goals and objectives for managing their own land. Main categories of management include forestry, wildlife, soil and water conservation and recreation. Once goals and objectives are established, a professional forester can then create a specialized forest stewardship management plan. This plan will include specific tract descriptions and recommendations for the landowner to use as a guideline to successfully manage their land. The plan will also meet the requirements of local Land Use Tax Programs and qualify landowners to be eligible to receive cost share funds through the Forest Stewardship Incentive Program.
